Joshua Stringer, M.A.I am an artist, writer, spiritual director, and educator. I offer contemplative spiritual guidance and accompaniment to individuals in the Salem, Oregon area. I am a member of Spiritual Directors International and I abide by their code of ethics. I became certified as an interfaith spiritual director through the Urban Spirituality Center in Portland, Oregon in 2016. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Applied Pastoral Theology from Marylhurst University. I am also a mixed-media artist and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Oregon University. I am fascinated by the intersections of art and spirituality and believe that art can be a powerful tool in leading us deeper into the experience of being human. For more than 13 years I have also worked in the field of special education and the students I have worked with have been some of my greatest teachers along the journey. My most illuminating experiences of the Divine have been in the face of great vulnerability. My spiritual path has been rooted in the mystical tradition of Christianity, but I have also been deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism, as well as the mystics of the world's major religious traditions. I began my own contemplative spiritual journey nearly 15 years ago and am passionate about sharing this wisdom with others.
